That’s what’s great about running ultramarathons. You spend a lot of time alone with your thoughts and in nature if it’s a trail ultra. Running alone is also my time with God. I also get some of my writing ideas & brainstorms while running alone. Running alone is a healthy escape from the chaos of the world if only for the duration of the run. Solitude is a good thing during a run. But it’s nice to run with a fellow runner at mile 90 of a 100 miler…we quietly feed off each other.
