I am an ultrarunner training for my 40th ultramarathon. When I'm not training and running, I'm writing about what I love and know, reading, writing book reviews, knitting, baking, flower and vegetable gardening, hiking in national parks, rock climbing, and painting.

When I lost my adjunct professor position to the pandemic, I became a self-taught acrylic painter. I paint nature scenes inspired by our hikes in national parks and more. I love playing with paint and creating with a childlike sense of awe and wonder. See some of my paintings here.

After suffering from eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE) and food impaction episodes for twenty-six years, I healed myself when I eliminated preservatives, additives, food coloring, hormones, antibiotics, steroids, pesticides and insecticides from my diet. Here's my journey and how I did it.

I have two awesome egg-laying hens—Faith and Gracie. They give me so much joy.
